The 35th expedition for this Stockholm-born, Berlin-based imprint sees label boss Pär Grindvik call upon Swedish peer Jean-Louis Huhta, under his Dungeon Acid moniker.
Jean-Louis’ cult status as Dungeon Acid adorns a prolific career, with output via labels such as Thrill Jockey, Ideal, Börft, Huhta Home Studio and Svek, as well as with Swedish artistic collective Lucky People Center and avant-rock outfit, Skull Defekts.
The release opens with 12 minute epic, ‘The Move’, during which Dungeon Acid constructs a bed of hissing soundscapes, permeated by fragments of gritty beats and skewed rhythms. ‘Timewave’ then drags the listener into a whirlpool of arpeggiated percussion and swirling synths. Meanwhile, Pär Grindvik reaffirms his talent for both A&R and production, delivering 2 frenetically charged reinterpretations on the flip and tethering the EP to the dance floor.
The Move will be released on vinyl on August 5th, digital release will follow on August 24th. ‘Timewave’ will only available with the digital release.
The release artwork, complete with iconic Dungeon Acid stamp, is a tribute to the dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham.
